About me
My journey into software development began with a deep passion for technology and problem-solving. Over the years, I've honed my skills in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, Laravel, Vue.js, and WordPress. What sets me apart is my commitment to clean, maintainable code and user-friendly design. I believe in the power of collaboration and communication, and I thrive in fast-paced, dynamic environments.
Outside of work, I have a love for music and play the guitar. I nearly pursued a degree in music production but ultimately chose a software development apprenticeship. I've traveled extensively and plan to continue exploring the world. These experiences have shaped my perspective and approach to both life and work.
Experience
Software Engineer - Veracross
At Veracross/Epraise, I assisted in modernising a bespoke PHP framework by migrating it to Laravel with a Vue.js front-end. I collaborated with cross-functional teams worldwide, delivering software solutions to over 300 schools. My responsibilities included integrating in-house and third-party software, managing a Junior Software Engineer, and leading product planning meetings. I also provided insights into UI and UX improvements and optimised code efficiency. During this time, I expanded my knowledge of PHP.
Software Developer - Epraise
As a Software Developer at Epraise, I contributed to the growth of an ed-tech platform by developing new features, fixing bugs, and improving functionality. I mentored an apprentice, conducted code reviews, and worked on web and mobile applications for both Android and iOS. My role also included integrating multiple APIs, managing server-side processes, and conducting thorough testing and quality assurance. Additionally, I provided customer support to over 200 schools in the UK and internationally. I primarily worked with PHP and learned Swift and Java.
Junior Front-End Developer - WifiSpark
At WiFi SPARK, I designed and developed User Experience Portals for WiFi hotspots, implemented new features, and resolved issues within existing systems. I gained hands-on experience troubleshooting production environments, conducting peer reviews, and performing acceptance testing. Additionally, I managed databases and provided third-line support. During this time, I learned HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, and some PHP and MySQL.
